Let's start out with the basics. This palette retails at $45 US. You are getting 12 shadows, at 1.3 grams each. Considering a mac eyeshadow is 1.5 grams and $15 each, this is a great deal. It also comes with a dual ended version of their famous 24/7 glide on eye pencils. You also get a sample size of the Urban Decay Primer Potion. The palette is titled "The Naked Palette", because of its large range of neutral shadows. It is arranged in a gradation of colors from lightest on the left and getting more or less progressively darker. There are 3 matte shadows, 7 shimmery shadows, and 1 that I think is more sparkly than shimmery. Some of the shadows are new to urban decay and some are available for single purchase. The ever so popular Half Baked makes an appearance, as well as Smog, Sin, Toasted, Naked and Gun Metal. The shimmery shades are my favorite, because I think they give the most pigmentation. These shadows are extremely soft, and the saying "a little goes a long way" really applies. They blend extraordinarily well, and are very versatile. This palette provides a lot of options for complete looks. You can do very simple, neutral, looks, or darker smokey looks. If you are going on vacation, this palette is really all you need. Its extremely compact. The packaging is the one downsize in my eyes, because the velvety outside attracts a lot of shadow and gets quite dirty. The dual ended pencil is great, because their liners are amazing, and having the brown and black together as one is much easier.
Shadow Breakdown:
Virgin: Shimmering nude/white. Great highlight or all-over lid color for a neutral day look.
Sin: (Permanent Shade) Frosty champagne with pink undertones. Perfect all-over lid color.
Naked: (Permanent Shade) Matte medium to light brown shade. Good all-over lid color as well.
Sidecar: (Not available in single form but appeared in the first book of shadows) Sparkly bronze-brown with pinkish undertones.
Buck: Matte darkened brown. Similar to naked in pigmentation just darker.
Half Baked: (Permanent Shade) Coppery Gold with loads of shimmer.
Smog: (Permanent Shade) Medium bronze brown.
Darkhorse: Deep shimmering chocolate brown.
Toasted: (Permanent Shade) Medium brown with pinky undertones.
Hustle: Dark plum chocolate.
Creep: Dark black with silver fleks.
Gunmetal: (Permanent Shade) Blue grey metallic shade.
This really is an amazing palette. This is perfect for experts and beginners. All who love eyeshadow can appreciate this palette. I think this is also my favorite product of 2010. So if that doesn't show my absolute love for this product I don't know what will.
